We are strangers living in a strange land. We’re exiles, chosen to be obedient to Christ, scattered as foreigners to be salt and light to the world around us. This obedience to Christ sometimes means that we’ll endure difficult circumstances. We’re not home yet, but we rest assured knowing that someday we will be.
Elias and Norma have been living in the United States for 5 years and knew that at age 45, they needed to learn English. It was no easy task, but they wanted to be immersed into the culture to be able to connect with those around them. They know that God’s purpose in their lives is to share the Word of God and help foreigners in Plainfield or Indianapolis and that is exactly what they do. They open up their home to those that need a place to stay and their guest room always has someone in it. “…Living with us is a very good opportunity to show Jesus, to talk about Jesus. The environment is around God, when Jesus is the center of our life, is the center of our house, it is the best motivation for unbelievers.”
Here is Elias and Norma’s story of being strangers.
