The Mission of Plainfield Christian Church

March 6, 2024 | Lindy Ruth Rader

What does it mean to be fully alive? Finding an answer to that question can feel incredibly overwhelming. Google tells us that to feel fully alive, we need to be open to all the possibilities of our existence and explore every part of ourselves until we find what makes us come alive.

I don’t know about you, but to me that seems exhausting. Trying thing after thing, searching high and low, yet always coming up empty. At Plainfield Christian we believe that there is so much more than what this definition has to offer. Jesus came to the world so that we could have life to the full (John 10:10). We believe that life to the full, or being fully alive, means living with Jesus, in community, and on mission.

Being with Jesus

We believe that the Lord created us to have a personal relationship with Him, and to know the true and living Jesus.

John 17:3 - “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true god, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

We desire to walk with people in their relationship with Christ. Whether someone is hearing about Jesus for the first time or the one-thousandth time, we are excited to encourage them as they grow closer to Him. Some resources we have for this include our Sunday morning services, our Fully Alive journal and reading plan, and the chance to be prayed over on Sunday mornings. Along with these resources, our staff and elders always love to talk with people about their relationship with Jesus and where their heart is at.

In Community

We believe that we were not created to do life alone, rather, we were made to follow Jesus side-by-side with other people.

Hebrews 10:24-25 -“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

At PCC this looks like getting plugged into a life group, Sunday school class, women’s Bible study, men’s prayer group, and/or more. These groups are focused on walking through life together, encouraging one another in relationships with Jesus, and keeping each other accountable.

On Mission

We also believe that God designed us for a purpose, and we want to help you discover the mission that He has in mind for you.

Ephesians 2:10 - “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

There are so many opportunities to serve at PCC, or to get connected to a ministry through PCC. Some serving opportunities include greeting people as they come in on Sundays, serving in kids ministry, going on a mission trip to Gurabo, partnering with our impact partners (example: Migros Aid), and so much more. Whether you are serving at PCC or somewhere else, we would love to help you find a place to use the gifts that the Lord has given specifically to you.

Whether you just heard about Jesus for the first time or have been a Christian your whole life, we are excited to walk alongside of you as you live fully alive with Jesus, in community, and on mission.
